Factors that drive this innovation are that these crops are more sustainable to drought, frost, high soil salinity/salt tolerant plants, and nitrogen starvation. Genetically modified crops also have longer shelf life and improved nutrition and vitamins. Also these crops are disease, stress, herbicide, and pest resistant.
